Description

Ferdinand Porsche saw the potential of an amphibious version of the VW Type 82 Kubelwagen. The German army was searching for a vehicle which would perform in difficult conditions such as snow, sand and mud. The project was the all wheel drive, boat shaped Type 128. This vehicle was too large and unstable, a smaller Schwimmwagen was introduced, the Type 166. This design was a great success, simple mechanics and lightweight allowed the vehicle to traverse difficult terrain with ease, not to mention outstanding amphibious capabilities. Engine; 20hp 1131cc flat 4 cylinder
