Summary edit

Description

Studebaker built wagons in the 1800s, electric automobiles starting in 1902 and gasoline vehicles from 1904 to 1966. In 1947, Studebaker completely redesigned the Champion and the Commander, making them the first new cars after World War II. The styling included flat front fenders and a new wraparound, 'greenhouse' rear window that was on 2-door cars from 1947–1951, at first just an option, in 1950 it was given its own trim line, the Starlight coupe. The 'spinner' grill was introduced in 1950, similar to that of a Ford Deluxe, but was dropped again for the 1952 model year. For 1947, Studebaker cars were available either in the short wheelbase Champion (2 door Coupe, 2 door and 4 door Sedan in Deluxe or Regal Deluxe, a Convertible also in Regal Deluxe) Or long wheelbase Commander (2 door Coupe, 2 door and 4 door Sedan in Deluxe or Regal Deluxe, a Convertible also in Regal Deluxe)
