The Lincoln Motor Company was originally founded in 1917 and since 1922 has been the luxury vehicle division of the American Ford Motor Company. The Lincoln Capri was built from 1952-59, through 3 generations. The first, from 1952-55 shared its body styling with the lesser Lincoln Cosmopolitan and the Mercury Monterey. Available in 4 door sedan and 2 door hardtop and convertible This, the second, from 1956-57, now the base model, got its forward styling from the Lincoln Futura and Mercury XM-800 concept cars, it shared styling with the upmarket Lincoln Premier and Mercury Montclair. Available in 4 door sedan and 2 and 4 door hardtop. The third generation, 1958-59, now a bigger car with canted headlights and sculptured fenders, shared styling with the Lincoln Premiere and the Mk III Continental, also available in 4 door sedan and 2 and 4 door hardtops.
