editDescription1954 Cunningham C3 Coupé (5442), front right side (Greenwich 2022).jpg |
English: A 1954 Cunningham C3 displayed at the 2022 Greenwich Concours d'Elegance where it won Best In Class for Vignale Bodied Cars. The chassis, originally 5213 but later changed to 5442 to allow it to be sold as a '54, was delivered to Vignale on 7 July 1952 and returned to NY December 1952. It was finished in July 1953 but only sold in February 1954. Obscure early history, but the original buyer seems to have been a R.L. Parish of NYC. He also specified the optional Ford heater and radio. The car was listed as Metallic Grey with a grey interior in 1953, and as red with brown interior in 1954. It was crashed by a dentist's wife in 1964, after which it was repainted off-white. A later restorer claims that the body had originally been painted white. Now with a James W. Taylor of Gloversville, NY. |
