I've recently found a vintage View-Master with several reels from 1954 in an antique store. The photos are very typical tourist shots of various sights in California and I'll post some of the more interesting ones.

Here is a long-gone view of Grant Avenue at the corner of Sacramento in Chinatown.

While the buildings are still there, every single business and store front has changed in the nearly 60 years since this photo was taken.

The building on the left houses now a Bank Of America with the Gold Mountain Sagely Monastery upstairs, the one next to it is the Chinatown Kites store followed by the Far East Flea Market.

It's interesting to note that Grant Avenue is now a one way street northbound, while the cars parked here all face south.

Judging from the shadows, the fog visible over the Bay and the long coats, this was probably taken just around noon some time in June of 1954.
