Description

Austin-Healey was a British sports car maker established in 1952 through a joint venture between the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation (BMC) and the Donald Healey Motor Company (Healey). Austin Healeys were produced in two sizes, The Sprites were the small Healeys, built from 1958-71. The Big Healeys were built from 1953-67, they were; 1953-55 Austin-Healey 100 BN1; 90hp A90 2660cc 4 cyl, 3 speed. 1953 Austin-Healey 100S (Sebring) for racing, aluminium body, smaller grille, no bumpers, alloy head, 132hp, 50 made. 1955-56 Austin-Healey 100 BN2; 4 speed, larger front wheel arches. 1955 Austin-Healey 100M; high performance, 110hp, louvred bonnet and bonnet belt, 640 made. 1956-59 Austin-Healey 100-6; 2+2 BN4 or 2-seat BN6 (from 1958) 2 inches longer for 117hp 2639cc 6 cyl, oval grille, bonnet scoop. 1959-61 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I; 2+2 BT7 and 2 seat BN7, 130hp 2912cc 6 cyl, visually unchanged with horizontal bar grille 1961-62 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk II; 2+2 BT7, 2 seat BN7 roadsters and BJ7 sports convertible (wind up windows and qtr lights), 138hp 2912cc (now triple carbs) vertical bar grille

1964-67 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk III BJ8 sports convertible, now 150hp and a new dash.
