Vintage Burgundy. Fords Pony car, the Mustang was first introduced in April, 1964. By 1967 Fords pony car gained some serious competition from the other manufacturers, so the new look was more muscular, the engine bay was larger to fit a big block engine. For 1967 the grille opening was larger, small rectangular mesh and the bars that extended from the 'pony corral' in 1965 were back. It got body coloured grilles at the rear of the side panel indentation, the rear taillight panel was now concave and the fastback got a new, longer roof line extending right to the very back of the car. Still available in Fastback, Hardtop or Convertible and 'GT' option; (V8, fog lamps, rocker panel stripes and disc brakes). Pony Interior option gone, now Deluxe Interior Package with brushed aluminium dash and door trim and a simple polished insert in the seats. Other options were now integrated air con, upper and lower consoles, turn signal hood and fold down rear seat in the fastback. Shelby American built performance versions of the Mustang. For 1967, not only the 306hp 289 GT350 was available but new for 67, was the 355hp 428 GT500
