Cameo Ivory. GM created Pontiac in 1926, sold beside the more expensive Oakland. The Oakland was dropped in 1933, the Pontiac continued to be sold until 2010. In 1964, Pontiac wanted a performance package for its compact car, the Tempest/ LeMans, so the GTO option was introduced. The GTO was restyled in 1965 and became its own model, now slightly longer and featuring Pontiacs characteristic stacked quad headlights and horizontal bars in the grille. A facelift in 1966 saw the nose change, the grille, now a fine eggcrate and the back window restyled. 1967 saw new chrome mesh grille and new tail lights. Engine capacity was increased in 1967 to 400 cu in and available in 3 models; 255hp economy, 335hp standard and 360hp high output.
