Polar White. The XT Falcon was built from March 1968-June 1969. The XT was a facelift on the XR with revised plain flat grille, the tail lights remained circular, but the indicators were now horizontal rectangles, instead of the XR’s circles. Like the XR, the XT GT got improved suspension and brakes, 4 speed transmission. The GT also got the Fairmont interior with extra instrumentation and Mustang steering wheel. Outside, chrome wheel covers, black grille, black tail light panel and black stripes down each side, new for the XT was driving lights, limited slip diff, an automatic option and the 289 was enlarged to 302 cu in. The XR GT was mainly only available in Gold, the XT GT available in Red, Green, Gold, Silver and White (plus a few specials) At Bathurst, the Gibson/Seton Falcon was in the lead with only 15 laps to go, when a hole in the radiator put the car out and the Monaro of Bruce McPhee and Barry Mulholland swept to victory. But a team of three XT Falcon GTs won the Teams prize in the 1968 London-Sydney Marathon, finishing 3rd, 6th and 8th outright Engine; 230bhp 302 V8 1415 XT GT Falcons were made, 363 in Polar White |
