Description

The HQ Holden was built from July 1971-Oct 1974. The HQ was the most significant redesign yet. a completely new body and chassis, coil suspension and engines cubic capacity enlarged. The Brougham was dropped and the new long wheelbase Statesman introduced, also introduced were the sporty SS and Monaro GTS sedans. (only 2 door Monaros til now) The base model was the Belmont, available in Sedan, Wagon, Utility and Panel Van. Mid spec was the Kingswood, available in Sedan, Wagon and Utility Top was the Premier, available in Sedan and Wagon; quad headlights and a walnut dash Also available, the longer bodied Statesman and Statesman Deville. Performance cars were: the 4 door Belmont based SS, the 2 door Monaro, in base, GTS, GTS 350 and LS (Luxury Sport), the 4 door Monaro was available from 1973 in GTS and GTS 350. The Sporty Sandman option was available on the Vans an Utes in 1974, they got bright colours, stripes and Monaro interiors The Holden One Tonner was a cab chassis utility that was produced by Holden between 1971 and 1984

V8s; 174 or 185hp 253, 240hp 308 and 275hp 350 (only in GTS350)
