The EL Falcon was built from August 1996-Sept 1998. The EL was just a facelift for the EF, the GLi, Futura and XRs got their grilles back, an oval shape, also new headlights, bonnet and bumper. Suspension was improved across the range. Sedans and wagons available again, also the longer Fairlane and LTD, and the XH utility and van, (old XF from the windscreen back). The base GLi got 4.0 6 cyl, manual, airbag, 15in wheels. The 1996 Classic option pack gave you air and alloys The 1997 S pack gave you air, alloys and a side pinstripe The 1998 Sapphire; air, alloys, pinstripe, 6 stacker Next model up from the GLi was the Futura, they got body coloured mirrors and bumpers, cruise control and ABS. Then Fairmont; chrome grille, trip computer, climate control. Top was the Fairmont Ghia; extra was CD stacker and XR6 engine. The sporty models were the XR6 and XR8; Tickford improved running gear, quad headlight front fascia, body kit, rear spoiler, sports interior Also the 30th anniversary EL GT was available, only 267 built by Tickford Vehicle Engineering, with 200kw SVO GT40 5,0 V8.
