Description
Deutsch: 30.08.2001 17279 Lychen, Kirchstraße: Johanneskirche (GMP: 53.208940,13.315499). Sankt Johannes ist die evangelische Stadtkirche von Lychen, ein einschiffiger frühgotischer Granitbau mit Backsteinteilen (2. H. 13. Jh., später mehrmals erneuert). Der etwa um das Jahr 1350 hinzugebaute Chorraum wurde auf der Ostseite angebaut, die Westseite bildet der massive Kirchturm. Die Kirche wurde im Jahr 1263 der heiligen Maria geweiht. Der Johanniterorden, der gegen Ende des 13. Jahrhunderts in Lychen eine Komturei gegründet und Hospitäler eingerichtet hatte, erhielt im Jahr 1302 das Patronat über die Pfarrkirche. So änderten die Johanniter das Patrozinium und weihten die Kirche dem heiligen Johannes dem Täufer, nach welchem sich der Orden benannt hatte. [F20010830A03A]20010830850NR.JPG(c)Blobelt
