Description
Deutsch: 29.04.2003 39590 Tangermünde: St. Stephan (GMP: 52.542600,11.975040) ist eine spätgotische Backsteinkirche mit älteren Teilen. Der heutige Bau wurde 1376 auf älterer Grundlage begonnen. 1617 nach Brand erneuert. 1844 restauriert. Bemerkenswert ist die noch weitgehend original aus dem 17. Jahrhundert erhaltene Ausstattung der Kirche. Im Inneren der Kirche wurde die farbige Raumgestaltung aus der Zeit der Spätgotik wieder hergestellt. Ungewöhnlich sind die achteckigen profilierten Pfeiler. Barocker Schnitzaltar von 1705. Der dreigeschossige hölzerne Aufbau hat Türen für den Abendmahlsumgang. Das Hauptgeschoss zeigt Moses und Johannes den Täufer, die eine Kreuzigungsdarstellung flankieren. Petrus und Paulus begleiten Christi, der hier als Löwe aus dem Stamme Juda dargestellt ist.
