Description
Deutsch: 21.06.2004 17429 Mellenthin (Insel Usedom), Dorfstraße 25: Das Wasserschloß Mellenthin (GMP: 53.923934,14.016474) wurde zwischen 1575 und 1580 (Renaissance) im Auftrag von Rüdiger von Nienkerken (Rüdiger von Neuenkirchen) erbaut, einem Rat des Herzogs Ernst Ludwig von Pommern-Wolgast. Baumeister war angeblich Antonio Wilhelmi. Mehrfacher Besitzerwechsel, zeitweilig schwedisch. Nach einem Konkurs kam das Gut Mellenthin 1818 an die Familie Wittchow. Nach der Enteignung 1945 wurde der Gebäudekomplex durch die Gemeinde genutzt, die hier unter anderem Wohnungen, einen Kindergarten und ein Heimatmuseum einrichtete. Zu DDR-Zeiten kam auch eine Gaststätte ins Schloß. Nach der Wende wurde das Wasserschloß 2001 privatisiert und zu einem Hotel mit Gastronomie ausgebaut. Kamin von 1613 im Gastraum im Erdgeschoß.
