Description
Deutsch: 02.07.2004 17406 Morgenitz (Mellenthin / Insel Usedom): Backsteinkirche (GMP: 53.926060,13.964500). 1270 kam Morgenitz in den Besitz des Klosters Grobe. Im Jahr 1318 erfolgte der Bau einer Kapelle. Von diesem Ursprungsbau ist jedoch vermutlich nichts erhalten. Die heutige Kirche wurde um 1500 ausgeführt, die Ausstattung ist bedeutend jünger. Die großen Fenster in der Ostwand wurden 1702 durch schweren Sturm herausgerissen, die verbliebenen Öffnungen wurden später zugemauert. 1747 wurde das Dach durch einen Wirbelsturm abgedeckt, das neue Dach stürzte schon 1764 ein, zerschlug die flache Decke des Kirchenraumes und riss die obere Hälfte des Ostgiebel mit herab. Damals wurden Emporen, Altar und Kanzel, Taufstein, Kronleuchter, Gestühl und das alte Holzschnitzwerk zerschmettert. Der Wiederaufbau der Kirche erfolgte 1771.
