Description
Deutsch: 26.09.2004 98530 Rohr, Zur Linde 4: Dorfkirche (GMP: 50.578233,10.499316). Auf einer vorchristlichen Kultstätte entstand in noch der Karolingerzeit im 9. Jahrhundert eine Kirchenburg. St. Michael zu Rohr (Thüringen) wurde als Klosterkirche eines Benediktinerklosters zwischen 815 und 820 erbaut. Das Kloster war eine Filiale des großen Reichsklosters in Fulda. Da das Kloster um 900 einging, diente sie im 10. Jahrhundert als Kaiserpfalz, die bis zum Beginn des 11. Jahrhunderts bestand. Nach Zerstörung erneuert um 915. 1340 und 1367 durch die Bischöfe von Würzburg abermals geschleift. Im 16./17. Jahrhundert mehrfach umgebaut. Im Spätmittelalter wurde die Anlage mit dem Mauerring umgeben und damit zur Wehrkirche. Torturm zum ehemals befestigten Friedhof aus romanischer Zeit. Sicht vom Kirchhof.
