Description
Deutsch: 27.05.2006 01307 Dresden-Johannstadt, Trinitatisfriedhof, Fiedlerstraße 1: Haupttor und Feierhalle (GMP: 51.053255,13.770622) von Friedrich Gottlob Thormeyer, um 1815. Anlaß für seine Planung waren die Auswirkungen der Napoleonischen Kriege des Jahres 1813 und die nachfolgende Typhusepedemie. Die alten Stadtfriedhöfe konnten die Toten nicht mehr aufnehmen. Von herausragender Bedeutung für die Friedhofsgeschichte in Deutschland ist, daß mit den detaillierten Entwürfen von Hofbaumeister Friedrich Gottlob Thormeyer (1757-1842) und Ratsmaurermeister Christian Gottlieb Spieß erstmals eine estattungsanlage nach künstlerischen Gesichtspunkten gestaltet wurde. Die offizielle Eröffnung war am 08.01.1816, aber die erste Bestattung hatte bereits am 04.05.1815 stattgefunden. Erweiterungen erfolgten 1834, 1846 und 1872. Die Leichenhalle und ein Unterkunftshaus wurden 1843 errichtet. 1945 schwer zerstört, erhielt der Andachts- und Feierraum nach dem 2. WK durch den Architekten Arno Kiesling seine äußer Form zurück.
