Description
Deutsch: 15.06.2006 01099 Dresden-Albertstadt, Marienallee: Der Sowjetische Garnisonfriedhof in Dresden (GMP: 51.078414,13.773223) entstand ab Mai 1945 als Kriegsgräberstätte der Roten Armee, offiziell eröffnet im Oktober 1946. Er ist ein typischer Waldfriedhof. Ab 1947 erfolgte die Landschaftsgestaltung unter der Ägide von Duglore Goltdammer. Von 1946 bis 1987 wurde er offiziell als Standortfriedhof für die während der Besatzungszeit verstorbenen Soldaten und Offiziere der Sowjetarmee, deren Angehörige sowie für Zivilangestellte genutzt und in dieser Zeit durch die Stadt Dresden dreimal erweitert. Den 16 m hohen Obelisk (GMP: 51.077990,13.772900) hat der Architekten Emil Leibold entworfen und der Bildhauer Friedrich Press 1946-1947 gestaltet. Das Denkmal "Der Fahnenträger" (GMP: 51.078600,13.772720), eine 3,50 Meter hohe Bronze-Plastik, gestaltete Johannes Friedrich Rogge im Jahr 1957 im Auftrag der Stadt Dresden, welche sie der sowjetischen Garnison anlässlich des 40. Jahrestages der Oktoberrevolution zum Geschenk machte. Insgesamt gibt es in Dresden 58 Friedhöfe mit einer Fläche von ca. 173 Hektar. Der sowjetische Garnisonfriedhof ist der jüngste.
