Description
Deutsch: 31.12.2006 01187 Dresden-Südvorstadt, Nürnberger Straße / Ecke Hohe Straße (GMP: 51.035801,13.717224): Die Ruine der evangelisch-lutherischen Zionskirche ist eine von der Stadt Dresden als Lapidarium genutzte Kirchenruine. Die Baupläne für die 1908 - 1912 errichtete Kirche erstellte das Architekturbüro Büro Schilling & Graebner. Für den Bau hatte der Maschinenbaufabrikant Johann Hampel 1896 testamentarisch sein Vermögen von etwa 750.000 Mark an die Stadt Dresden übertragen. Bei den Luftangriffen auf Dresden am 13./14. Februar 1945 wurde die Kirche schwer getroffen und brannte bis auf die Umfassungsmauern aus. Sie wurde später mit einem provisorischen Dach gesichert. Sicht von der Hohen Straße.
