Description
Deutsch: 12.02.2007 01139 Dresden-Mickten (Ortsamt Pieschen), Kötzschenbroder Straße 1 (GMP: 51.077518,13.715770): Ballhaus Watzke (Eigenbezeichnung: Ball- & Brauhaus Watzke). Nach Abbruch eines älteren Hauses entstand 1897-1898 der heutige Bau. Architekt war Benno Hübel, die Deckenmalerei im Saal stammt von Emil Schulz. Errichtet wurde das Haus von der Micktener Baumeisterfirma Gustav Richard Martin. Bis zum II. Weltkrieg war es wichtigstes Tanzlokal der Umgebung. Während des I. und II. Weltkriegs dienten die Räume zeitweise als Soldatenquartier. 1946 zug ein Varieté ins Ballhaus ein. Bis 1950 wurde der Gaststättenbetrieb aufrecht erhalten. Viele Jahre diente es nun als Lager der HO. 1993 bis 1996 erfolgt seine umfassende Sanierung und Rekonstruktion. Dabei wurde auch der Saal weitegehend originalgetreu wieder hergerichtet.
