Description
Deutsch: 15.03.2008 01067 Dresden-Mitte: Heizkraftwerk Mitte (GMP: 51.052732,13.722332), Kraftwerk Dresden-Mitte: Das Kraftwerk, speziell das Kesselhaus, stammt aus den Jahren 1926/27. Seit Anfang August 2006 wird das baufällige Kesselhaus abgerissen, das seit 1994 leersteht. 1994 wurden schon die Stahlschornsteine abgerissen. Weil die Schloten an den russischen Panzerkreuzer Aurora erinnerten, trug das Kraftwerk im Volksmund den Namen "AUROA". Ursprünglich wurde hier das "Gaswerk Altstadt" betrieben, bis nach respektablem Hin und Her 1895 das "Lichtwerk" Teile der Stadt mit Elektrizität zu versorgen begann. Wenig später machte der wachsende Strombedarf den Anbau des "Westkraftwerkes" nötig - errichtet als Pendant zum "Lichtwerk". Viele Um- und Anbauten kamen in den folgenden Jahrzehnten hinzu; die markantesten 1927/28 mit dem Umbau zum Heizkraftwerk. 1994 wurde es stillgelegt. Sicht von der Ehrlichstraße.
