Deutsch: 16.04.2010 04720 Döbeln: Die Nicolaikirche (GMP: 51.122123,13.124536) geht auf eine ab 1333 errichtete frühgotische Basilika zurück. 1479-1485 wird sie zur spätgotischen Hallenkirche umgebaut. Im Westteil der Kirche befindet sich im Obergeschoß der sog. "Mirakelmann", eine lebensgroße hölzernen Christuspuppe mit beweglichen Extremitäten. Der um 1510 geschaffene "Mirakelmann" berichtet von der Frömmigkeit des späten Mittelalters. Die Menschen wollten das biblische Geschehen innig nacherleben. Deshalb veranstalteten sie Passionsspiele, bei denen der Leidensweg Christi von der Kreuzigung bis zur Grablegung nachgestellt wurde. Dafür verwendete man eine bewegliche lebensgroße Christusfigur aus Lindenholz. Im Rumpf befindet sich eine Vertiefung für ein Gefaß, welches mit Tierblut gefüllt werden konnte. Bei den Passionsspielen wurde die zuvor mit Wachs verschlossene Stelle geöffnet, so dass Christus scheinbar echt bluten konnte. Der "Mirakelmann" hat eine ganz eigene Leidensgeschichte hinter sich. Hinter der Orgel verborgen, wurde er in den 1980er Jahren wiederentdeckt und später aufwendig restauriert. Doch dann kam das Hochwasser im August 2002. Der "Mirakelmann" wurde schwer beschädigt.
