Description
Deutsch: 23.03.2012 04828 Schmölen (Bennewitz): Rittergut Schmölen, Herrenhaus, Am Achterwasser 6 (GMP: 51.350571,12.725144). Das Herrenhaus ist aus einem alten Rittersitz hervorgegangen. Es steht wahrscheinlich über den Grundmauern einer mittelalterlichen Wasserburg. Zu den Adelsfamilien, die auf Schmölen saßen, gehörten die von Schleinitz, Thümmel, Seydlitz, Zedlitz, Damnitz und Nitzschwitz. 1901 ersteigerte Dr. Karl Johannes Schultz aus Chemnitz den 156 Hektar großen Hof und ließ noch im gleichen Jahr ein neues Herrenhaus errichten. 1947 wurde darin ein Altenpflegeheim eingerichtet. Am 26. November 1967 brannte das Dachgeschoss aus. Beim nachfolgenden Wiederaufbau wurde anstelle des Mansarddachs ein Obergeschoß aufgesetzt und dieses mit einer flachen Bedachung versehen. Das Pflegeheim wurde noch bis 2002 von der Arbeiterwohlfahrt Westsachsen betrieben. Danach stand das Herrenhaus leer, bis 2007 die Familien Franck und Korpowski einzogen.
