Koch, Lodge, Nakasone & Aime 2018 (= Rhizomorpha corynephora Kunze 1828) Image location: Los Amigos Biological Station – CICRA, Manu Biosphere Reserve, Madre de Dios, Peru Recognized by sight: Many thanks to Dr. Jean Lodge for her input on this observation : this fungus goes by the name of Rhizomorpha corynophora, but that is not a ‘good’ name, she pointed out. The current name is Brunneocorticium corynecarpon. For more information on this strange fungus, see the following paper which exists under free access: Koch RA, Lodge DJ, Sourell S, Nakasone K, McCoy AG, Aime MC (2018).
