Title
English: Women Taking Men's Places in Railroad Shops
Description
English: Attired in overalls, more than 30 women are doing men's work in the shops of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, at Glenwood, Pa. Although only a beginning, this encroachment by the fairer sex, on a field peculiarly adapted to men, will soon become more general, and as more and more of our boys take their places on the firing lines in France, fresh additions to our armies of women workers will come in the natural course of events, until, in a few years, if the war lasts that long, the male worker will be a curiosity. The photo shows one of the workers, and proves the belief that women are not physically fitted for arduous labor is a fallacy.
