Ngyen Van Hai, chef de la jeunesse catholique. » Après son abdication, le 25 août 1945, Bao Dai devient « conseiller suprême » dans le nouveau gouvernement formé par Ho Chi Minh et se rend à Hanoï. Il y réside jusqu’au 16 mars 1946, date à laquelle, à la demande de ce dernier, il conduit une délégation en Chine. De Chung King, au lieu de se rendre à Nankin, nouvelle capitale de Tchang Kai Check, il se réfugie à Hong Kong. En janvier 1947, il est pressenti par un représentant du gouvernement français M.Cousseau, pour revenir à la tête du pays. (Vers la mi-février, l’impératrice Nam Phuong vient rejoindre Bao Dai à Hong Kong, où elle séjourne quelque temps avant de partir pour la France). En février 1947, Bao Dai est approché par Nguyen Hai Thân, leader du VNCMDMH (Viêt Nam Cach Menh Dong Minh Hoi), parti appuyé par les Chinois), Nguyen Tuong Tam du VNQDD (Viêt Nam Quôc Dan Dang), le vieux parti nationaliste de Nguyen Thai Hoc) et un certain nombre d’hommes politiques en vue de constituer une ligue nationaliste, mais les discussions n’aboutissent pas. Le 9 septembre 1947, toujours à Hong Kong, Bao Dai reçoit une délégation de 24 personnes, représentant les trois régions du Viêt Nam et le 18 de ce même mois, il déclare accepter la confiance du peuple et entamer les négociations avec la France C’est sans doute au cours de cette réunion du 9 septembre que fut prise cette photo. Le 20 mai 1948, Bao Dai, forme un gouvernement provisoire dirigé par Nguyen Van Xuan. (renseignements communiqués par M.
