Description

Apollo 15 Hasselblad image from film magazine 86/NN - EVA-1 & 2.
A labeled version of this photo is figure 5-55 of the Apollo 15 Preliminary Science Report (NASA SP-289, 1972), which has the following caption:
Presampling, cross-Sun photograph, looking south, of samples 15017 to 15019, 15027, and 15028, collected immediately southwest of the LM.
The piece of hardware near center is labeled "high gain antenna connector cap, 5-cm diameter" in the figure.

From the Apollo 15 Lunar Surface Journal:
The piece of hardware on the ground is probably a so-called "pip-pin" that was pulled off the Rover during the deployment.
