Title
Photo 2.5 (La fête funéraire de Balayo).
Description
English: "Photo 2.5 The last phase in all its glory." (This erroneous caption should have been something like: The funeral feast for Balayo?) The funeral feast for Balayo. Apomi was an assistant to anthropologist Van Beek. The steering column of a car is used as a musician's musical instrument in a procession of colorfully clad dancers brandishing six long rear-loading guns. Men and women in colorful boubous and headscarves. A man with a big Fulani hat. On the right a slaughtered cow for a funeral. A woman is using a gourd as a rattle. The thick trunk of a baobab tree. The cliff face of Bandiagara. A woman with a ponytail. (Compare the book Chanter le baja ni: abirè le voyant Dogon, by Beek, W. E. A. van; Saye, Atimè Dogolu; Ongoiba, Oumarou Sambo. Leiden: Center d'Études africaines Leiden [2019], p. 252, there a gun parade at the funeral of Balugo Saye is mentioned.)

Nederlands: "Foto 2.5 De laatste fase in alle glorie".
