Description
English: "Photo 10.5 An ogo banya: hair braids on the eating bowl." An ogo banya, a richly decorated wooden bowl and eating bowl with figures on two levels of 40 cm high. The top half forms the lid for the bowl on the bottom half. Above two human figures: a standing woman on the left, a priestess, braiding the hair of the seated man on the right, the Hogon (priest) of the village. Below also the seated Hogon with a heron in his back. According to legend, a heron once led the way to the founders of the village.
