Description
English: Side angle shot of same image as 2003-35-68a: Lt. Paul W. Beck (1876-1922) sits next to pilot Phillip Parmelee (1887-1912), in a Wright Model B biplane before taking off for a demonstration of wireless communication between an airplane in flight and a ground operator, January 1911, Tanforan. Beck, at left, holds a radio transmitter labeled "Type A-4 Aeroplane Wireless Telegraph Set. Designed By Western Wireless Equipment Co." The airplane was outfitted with radio equipment by Earle Ennis. May have been provided by Fred Roebuck to Jane Morgan in September 1966 for use in publication.
