Nederlands: Monument over Englandsfarten.Monument boven Englandsfarten. Het monument toont de boeg van een boot die door de golven vaart, met een jonge man erop die naar buiten kijkt. Het monument herdenkt de Noorse mensen die tussen 1940 en 1945 uit het door de Duitsers bezette Noorwegen vluchtten op (vaak kleine) schepen naar Groot-Brittannië, met name naar Schotland, de Orkney-eilanden en de Shetland-eilanden. 320 mensen verloren het leven, 3300 wisten te ontsnappen. Het monument staat in een klein park aan de oostkant van de haven van Ålesund bij Skateflukaia. Het is gemaakt door Olav Stavseng. De onthulling vond plaats op 8 mei 1995, de 50e verjaardag van het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog, door kroonprins Haakon.
English: Monument over Englandsfarten. The monument shows the bow of a boat travelling through the waves, with a young man standing on it looking out. The memorial commemorates the Norwegian people who fled from German-occupied Norway on (often little) ships bound for Great Britain between 1940 and 1945, particularly to Scotland, the Orkney Islands and the Shetland Islands. 320 people lost their lives, 3300 managed to escape. The memorial is located in a small park on the east side of Ålesund harbour at Skateflukaia. It was created by Olav Stavseng. The unveiling took place on 8 May 1995, the 50th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, by Crown Prince Haakon.
