Description

“When Love bites the dust - Avec l’Amour en friche” ' by Erik Pevernagie, 100 x 80 cm, oil on canvas xx

If love does not make us reborn from ourselves, if it does not bring out the best values in us, if it does not reveal us to ourselves, life has dispossessed us, and only the dark chambers of our past can provide explanations.

When people are missing out on their choices and mix up pleasant, witty, funny, filthy, or scurrilous walks of life, they have a hard time inhabiting a pleasing and enriching experience and integrating into a world of understanding and recognition. If we don't remain undyingly hungry for awareness and attention, our lives stay desperately short.

If energy and enthusiasm are quenched, feelings are dried up, and emotions remain scorched and parched, love and affection become tangled in a flat, numb marsh. Nothing is growing any longer: no flowers, no foreseeable hope, and no potential prospects.

If no seed of loving care has been sown, no bud comes into bloom. A bud of expectation becomes an illusion, and life reaches a standstill. Love is lying fallow: "L’amour est en friche."

Ignorance or indifference are the keystones of disillusionment when love gets on the slippery slope. When love bites the dust and nothing strikes a chord anymore, soothing vibrations of happiness vanish deviously. The ethereal and exalting feel of harmony we mostly ignored but that was subliminally present has ultimately disappeared.

Love can be a frightening experience, and it's not uncommon for people to fear becoming infatuated. Some may avoid the risk altogether, retreating when the path becomes uncertain. In these moments, it's important to remember that fear is a natural part of the journey.

A romantic escapade can become a gamble and remain an adventure with surprises. Love is like a musical score: sometimes very tuneful, creating a harmony of sounds, and sometimes extremely harsh, striking a hell of false notes.

Singer Amy Winehouse felt like lying fallow in the ground of a wasteland "with tears dry, dying a hundred times, going back to black" and leaving eventually for a place of ultimate sorrow and heartbreak, for a point of no return.

Phenomenon: Love, attention and consideration.

Factual starting point: Girl lying' '
