Text
editAttempt To Defraud An Heir. By an affidavit made by Charles F. Webber, of No. 363 Ninth-Avenue, it appear that his father died on Friday, at No. 20 Thompson-street, and he and his mother (now in the Alms-house) claim to be the only heirs. The old man left between $200 and $300 in gold, several gold watches, and one due bill for $400 - in all about $1,000. This property, Webber alleges, was stolen by Madelaine Caroline Lindower, and a boy named Andrew Webber. The Surrogate directed the Public Administrator to take possession of the property, but these people refused to give it up. Alderman Wilson held them to bail in $1,000, Charles Frederick Webber, becoming security.
