Description U.S. Army Master Sgt. Rodney Whaley, a Tennessee Army National Guardsman, trains with his dogs March 2, 2008, in Alaska, for the upcoming 2008 Iditarod, billed as "The World's Last Great Race." The two-week dog sled race in Anchorage, Alaska, will take Whaley over frozen rivers, jagged mountain ranges, dense forests, desolate tundra and miles of windswept coast. Whaley, who is being sponsored by the Army National Guard, will become the first Tennessean in history to compete in the race. (U.S. Army photo by Russel Lee Klika) (www.army.mil)
