Description

Atteva aurea (Fitch, 1856) - Ailanthus webworm moth in Ohio, USA.

Despite the nontraditional body shape, this strikingly-colored orange, black, and white insect is a moth. It is native to parts of the subtropical and tropical New World Northern Hemisphere.

The leaf is part of a buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis occidentalis), which is native to eastern America.
