BLMERS #GIVINGBACK: Colorado BLMer Serves His Community in Many Ways Greg Rios, a petroleum engineering technician at the Colorado River Valley Field Office in Silt, Colo., finds ways to give back to the community where he lives and works year-round. Earlier this year, he chaperoned a group of 4H students on a field trip to Utah, and he is currently in the process of getting certified to chaperone international trips on behalf of the 4H, as well. Greg volunteers as a youth soccer coach, teaches religious education at his church, sponsors foreign exchange students in his home, works on Habitat for Humanity projects and has even played “Smokey” for Forest Service functions! He has taken on many of these activities while also attending field training and schooling to get his BLM PET national certification, stretching his time and energy to satisfy multiple commitments. Greg’s generosity and dedication to family and community have benefitted all who know him. He provides a shining example of all the ways a selfless and dedicated person can give back. |
