Description
English: This small-format paper manuscript from the Carthusian Monastery of Basel is mostly by the hand of the librarian Georg Carpentarius, who for the sake of daily spiritual exercises compiled prayers for various occasions, hymns, meditations and other theological texts. Among the identifiable authors are great ones such as Anselm of Canterbury and Bernard of Clairvaux, as well as lesser known names such as Basilius Phrisius. Two colored prints are glued in the covers: St. George with the dragon (front pastedown) and the Mass of St. Gregory (back pastedown).
Deutsch: Die kleinformatige Papierhandschrift aus der Kartause Basel stammt grösstenteils aus der Hand des Bibliothekars Georg Carpentarius der zum Zweck täglicher geistlicher Übungen Gebete zu verschiedenen Anlässen, Hymnen, Meditationen und andere theologische Texte zusammengestellt hat. Unter den identifizierbaren Autoren finden sich Grössen wie Anselm von Canterbury und Bernhard von Clairvaux neben weniger bekannten Namen wie Basilius Phrisius. In den Deckeln sind zwei kolorierte Drucke eingeklebt: St. Georg mit dem Drachen (vorderer Spiegel) und Messe des Heiligen Gregor (hinterer Spiegel).
Français : Le manuscrit en papier de petit format, provenant de la chartreuse de Bâle, est copié en grande partie par le bibliothécaire Georg Carpentarius, qui a compilé, pour les exercices spirituels quotidiens, des prières pour diverses occasions, des hymnes, des méditations et d’autres textes théologiques. Parmi les auteurs identifiables, on trouve de grands auteurs tels qu’Anselme de Canterbury et Bernard de Clairvaux, à côté de noms moins connus comme Basilius Phrisius. Sur les couvertures sont collées deux gravures coloriées : saint Georges avec le dragon (contreplat supérieur) et la messe de saint Grégoire (contreplat inférieur).
Italiano: Il manoscritto cartaceo di piccolo formato, proveniente dalla certosa di Basilea, è vergato in gran parte dalla mano del bibliotecario Georg Carpentarius, che ha raccolto, per gli esercizi spirituali quotidiani, preghiere per varie occasioni, inni, meditazioni e altri testi teologici. Tra gli autori identificabili ci sono grandi autori quali Anselmo di Canterbury e Bernardo di Chiaravalle, accanto a nomi meno noti come Basilius Phrisius. Nelle copertine sono incollate due stampe a colori: san Giorgio con il drago (controguardia anteriore) e la Messa di san Gregorio (controguardia posteriore).
