Description
Français : Basisin et aiguière au nom de Mihrimah Sultan (1812-1838) - Empire ottoman, Istanbul - vers 1820 - Cuivre doré (tombak) - Louvre - RFML.AI.2022.24.1 et 2. Le cartel indique : Cette aiguière et ce bassin sont en cuivre doré, appelé tombak. C'est une production spécifique de l'Empire ottoman. Ces ensembles figuraient parmi les affaires personnelles des concubines et des princesses ottomanes. Ils étaient marqués au nom de leur propriétaire. Une inscription, sur l'aiguière et le bassin, attribue ces œuvres à la princesse MIhrimah Sultan, en l'an 1236 de l'hégire (soit 1820-1821). il s'agit peut-être de la date à laquelle l'ensemble a été offert à la princesse, âgée de huit ans.
