Description
English: Bellis & Seeking (of Birmingham) 2'8.5" gauge 0-6-0WT "Secundus" (no works number) of 1874 built for the Furzebrook Tramway of Pike Bros., Fayle & Co.'s claypits in Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. It was a very unusual design with a marine firbox, outside Stephenson link motion, and a cow catcher! It was rebuilt by Stephen Lewin of Poole in 1880 and was fitted with a new boiler by Peckett & Sons of Bristol in 1935. Amazingly, it was not withdrawn until 1955 when the tramway was replaced by a road. Pictured at the Swanage Railway Museum at Corfe Castle, Dorset, 2 August 2019.
