Description:

Boîte ovale en écaille brune, cerclée et ceinturée d'or. Couvercle monté à charnière apparente. Sur le couvercle, miniature à l'aquarelle et à la gouache sur ivoire, cerclée d'or.

Marques, inscriptions, poinçons: Poinçon - Sur la charnière, à l'intérieur du couvercle : (une petite marque en forme de quadrilobe avec un point au centre)

Inscription concernant l'auteur - A l'intérieur de la boîte, inscription manuscrite sur papier quadrillé : "boîte ovale, écaille brune / miniature par Dumont / jeune femme avec cordon rouge / vente Mimerel / 1200 / 1019" Numéro de délivrance du legs - A l'encre rouge : "H. 64" [sic]

Description iconographique:

Le couvercle de cette boîte est orné d'une miniature, représentant un "Portrait de jeune femme", attribuée à Pio-Ignazio-Vittoriano Campana (Bodo Hofstetter, communication orale, 2010 ; cf. Los Llanos, José de, Grégoire, Christiane, "Boîtes en or et objets de vertu", Paris, Paris-Musées, 2011, p.468). Commentaire historique:

Le numéro de délivrance du legs "H. 64" figurant sur cette boîte ne correspond pas à celui qui lui est attribué sur la liste de la délivrance du legs.
