Žutotrbi mukač

Opis vrste

Žutotrbi mukač sa leđne strane tela ima sitna bradavičasta ispupčenja; sivosmeđe je ili maslinaste boje. Koža sa trbušne strane je skoro glatka, žuto-narandžasta, sa plavim ili crnim mrljama. Parotidne (zaušne) žlezde slabo izražene. Mužjaci nemaju rezonatorske kese. Jezik je veliki, ovalan i donjom površinom prirastao za dno usne duplje. Gornja površina palca prednjih ekstremiteta svetle boje. Između prstiju zadnjih ekstremiteta nalaze se opne za plivanje. Veličine je 4-5cm. U slučaju opasnosti ove žabe se prevrnu tako da je šareni trbuh okrenut naviše, ispupče ga i ostaju ukočene. Njihov šareni stomak, jarkih boja, trebalo bi na ovaj način da upozori predatora na toksičan sekret kožnih žlezda.
