Little point

edit

Hello Medeniacus, thanks for your good pictures. A little tip: please have a look here: Commons:Categories.
When you can identify the species, it is not useful to put the pictures in all taxon-categories. Greetings. Orchi (talk) 18:16, 6 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Medeniacus, on a similar note, if you put a picture in Category:Pirot, then you should not put it in Category:Pirot District because this is overcategorization (for more explanations please re-read COM:OVERCAT), and not in Category:Pirot municipality either because it is a redirected category. Thank you in advance--LamBoet (talk) 17:54, 17 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
I will have that on mind. Thanks.--Medeniacus (talk) 19:51, 17 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! Similarly, you are not supposed to put anything in Category:Butterflies, the species-level categories are enough. ;-)--LamBoet (talk) 19:04, 18 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hahaha. Ok. Thanks. Should I remove all those butterflies tags? I have problems with following all the rules, obviously :D--Medeniacus (talk) 20:18, 18 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
I see that you have removed them. Thanks for that :) This won't happen again :)--Medeniacus (talk) 20:27, 18 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, no problem at all :-)--LamBoet (talk) 21:54, 18 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Medeniacus, thank you for uploading your butterfly pictures. May I just make two remarks:

  • I think this one is daphnis, not admetus: do you agree, and can you please make the correction?
  • Please don't categorize your pictures in Category:Butterflies, it's not what it's meant for, and putting just the species category is enough :-)

Cheers--LamBoet (talk) 15:47, 28 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

I changed the body of text, but I dont know how to rename file. I see that I made mistake accidentally. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Medeniacus (talk • contribs) 16:08, 28 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
Hi Medeniacus; so, you can't rename the file yourself, but you can request a renaming : use the "more → move" function near the top right of the page (as mentioned in this page) and indicate the new name you want. A user with filemoving rights (like me) will then do the renaming.--LamBoet (talk) 23:58, 28 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Thanks. Species name is changed now. Waiting for admin to approve it.--Medeniacus (talk) 00:08, 29 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Category:Hipparchia volgensis

edit

Hi, it looks like you need some help to create Category:Hipparchia volgensis. What I suggest is: look at the source code of a similar category, for example Category:Hipparchia neomiris, and copy it into your new category, just changing the species and author name. Then, you can re-categorize your 5 H. volgensis pictures using the HotCat gadget. --LamBoet (talk) 12:02, 19 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

We meet again :D Im hopeless :D I changed the page as you suggested. Thanks again! --Medeniacus (talk) 13:13, 19 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi Medeniacus, may I ask what made you identify these butterflies as P. mannii? The sharp wing shape would suggest P. rapae; have you seen the upper side? --LamBoet (talk) 22:28, 3 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Medeniacus, I have just set these as Pieris sp., and I did similar changes to a few other pictures (see your watchlist). Please be cautious with butterfly identification: staying at genus level is generally better than putting an uncertain species name ;-) --LamBoet (talk) 01:26, 19 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
