The sun was shining in The Golden State for the second British Polo Day LA at Will Rogers Polo Club, Los Angeles. With the beautiful state park as a backdrop to the event, guests enjoyed a Champagne Taittinger reception before the fun of the Brompton Bicycle polo, which entertained the crowds with some dramatic falls and crashes. The Royal Salute Quaich Experience, led by His Grace The Duke of Argyll, was the perfect way to end a delicious lunch and get everyone on their feet before beginning the live auction which raised $57,000 in support of Homeboy Industries and the UK Stem Cell Foundation. Meanwhile in the Harrods garden party guests revelled in quintessentially British games such as croquet and giant jenga. The first polo match saw Harrow take on the home side, Will Rogers, being defeated by one goal in the final minutes of the last chukka and ending the game on a 5-4 win to Will Rogers. The tables soon turned however in the second match with the British Schools storming ahead and finishing 10-5 against the Southern California Team. Prizegiving saw the spectacular British Silverware Land Rover Will Rogers Plate and Hackett Bossom Cup being presented to the winning teams. Max Kirchoff finished off the day in true BPD fashion sabering a bottle of Taittinger Champagne to celebrate amongst the players and guests. |
