Description
English:  : Brunszvik Manor, Brunszvik Garden, László Baross by Pál Mihály Sr. (installed 1955, limestone bust). László Baross was born on October 16, 1865 in the village of Felsőzsember (then Hont county) from a middle-class family. He completed his primary education in Kremnica and secondary schools at the Nagyszombat High School, then in 1884 he enrolled at the Economic Academy of Magyaróvár, which started his first year of education in Hungarian. His teacher was Sándor Cserháti, professor of plant production, who actually started him on his career as a plant breeder. After graduating from the academy in 1887, he became an employee of the estates of Archduke Joseph. First he worked in the Alcsut estate in Fejér county," then in 1895 "he moved to Bánkút, first as an administrator in László major, then in 1911 he was appointed cattle inspector of the Bánkút estate, where he lived until the end of his life." Significant plant breeder activity (wheat, maize). With maize bred in Bánkút, Baross won first prize at the First National Maize Exhibition organized by OMGE in 1914.
