| Description |
English: Male Common Toad (Bufo bufo) on a road during spring migration to the spawning waters. The toad has raised on its front legs – looking for a female, that could walk nearby. You can see the blackish nuptial pads on the three inner fingers which help to hold on the female's back during "mating" (amplexus).
Deutsch: Ein Männchen der Erdkröte (Bufo bufo) auf einer Straße während der nächtlichen Frühjahrswanderung zum Laichgewässer. Das Tier hat eine aufgerichtete Stellung eingenommen und hält so nach einem laichbereiten Weibchen Ausschau, das in der Nähe vorbeiwandern könnte. Gut zu erkennen sind die schwärzlichen Brunstschwielen an den drei inneren Fingern, die bei der Paarungsumklammerung zusätzlichen Halt auf dem Rücken des Weibchens geben. |
