English:
Gyula Castle. Inner castle. The only intact lowland Gothic brick castle of the lowland regions of the former Kingdom of Hungary. Built in 1403 and 1445. After 1495 extended. From 1566 to 1695 it was in Turkish hands. County Hall from 1720 to 1795. Captured by Turks in 1566 and retained until 1695. County Hall from 1720 to 1795, burned down in 1801. Facade reliefs: 300th anniversary of the liberation of Gyula Castle by László György Kiss (1995 bronze) and In memory of Captain László Kerecsényi and the defenders of the castle by László György Kiss (2016 bronze, refere to the Battle of Gyula in 1566, 450th anniversary). A couple meters away from south corner of the Gyula Castle is a Soldier equestrian statue by Béla Tóth (1974 bronze works) - Várkert Street, Gyula, Békés County, Hungary.
