Nederlands: ALMKERK - Op maandagavond 1 juli toonde burgemeester Marcel Fränzel de nieuwe ambtsketen voor de gemeente Altena voor het eerst aan de 65 inwoners die zilver hebben gedoneerd.
Hij noemde het een pronkstuk. Eerder dit jaar deed de gemeente een oproep aan haar inwoners om zilver te doneren. Er werd totaal ruim 8 kilo opgehaald. Mariëtte van der Ven uit Nieuwendijk is de ontwerpster van de nieuwe ambtsketen. Haar ontwerp werd gekozen uit 5 ontwerpen die eerder zijn gepresenteerd aan een selectiecommissie. De Woudrichemse edelsmid Chantal Smits heeft het pronkstuk gemaakt. Het gewicht van de nieuwe ambtsketen is uiteraard geen 8 kilo. Het overgebleven zilver heeft deels al een bestemming gevonden. Er is namelijk voor de locoburgemeester nog een identiek exemplaar gemaakt. Zelfs nu is er nog zilver over. Burgemeester Fränzel opperde om daar ooit eens een waarderingspenning van te laten maken.
