Summary edit

Description

The addition of art can brighten up a living space and add personality and depth. In the same way, Calgary's public art installations bring colour and energy to the urban landscape.

On the corner of 1st and 4th Avenue southwest, sculptor John McEwan's centipede-like piece 'Weaving Fence & Horn' is an homage to a rocky mountain sheep's horn and also works as a windbreak for the TransCanada Tower.

Built in 2002, the sculpture, made from recycled steel, rises 24 feet into the sky and creates an explosion of colour and sinuous movement against the concrete and glass of the surrounding office buildings.
