Le Val d'Enfer.

Le 19 août 1945, l'Association des Anciens du Maquis de l'Ain décide de construire un monument à la mémoire des 700 morts des Maquis de l'Ain et du haut Jura.

La première pierre du monument est posée le 26 juin 1949 par le général Koenig.

29 juillet 1951 : inauguration du monument sous la présidence d'honneur de Madame veuve Chambonnet "Didier" et la présidence de Monsieur Jean Saint-Cyr, ministre de l'agriculture, député de l'Ain, président du conseil général de l'Ain.

Le Président du Conseil Gaston Monnerville y présidera l'inhumation d'un maquisard inconnu le 29 mai 1954.

L'inauguration du cimetière des maquisards sera présidée par le général De Gaulle le 24 juin 1956.

L'oeuvre du Val d'Enfer, du sculpteur Charles Machet, a été financée, en plus des institutions, par une participation ouvrière syndicale et des passants anonymes.

A l'est du monument s'étend le cimetière où reposent quatre-vingt-neuf maquisards morts au combat, dont trente-six inconnus

Sept Espagnols, deux Polonais, deux Italiens, un Russe, cinq Nord-Africains, venus combattre dans le maquis reposent au pied du mât où flotte le drapeau tricolore.

On 19 August 1945, the Alumni Association of the Maquis de l'Ain decided to build a monument to the memory of his dead 700 Maquis de l'Ain and Jura.

The first stone of the monument was placed June 26, 1949 by General Koenig.

Council President Gaston Monnerville will chair the burial of an unknown maquisard May 29, 1954.

The inauguration of the cemetery maquisards will be chaired by General De Gaulle June 24, 1956.

The work of the Val d'Enfer, the sculptor Charles Machet was funded, in addition to institutions, a union worker participation and anonymous passersby.

To the east of the monument lies the cemetery where eighty-nine guerrillas killed in combat, thirty-six of unknown based

September Spaniards, two Poles, two Italians, a Russian, five North Africans came to fight in the bush lie at the foot of the mast where the tricolor flag fleet.
