Steatite Granulation Process |

Description |
2. To better control density and shrinkage factors, the steatite mixture is dried and ground into a coarse powder. It is then reground and vibrated through a series of fine screens which separate the steatite by particular size, Only those granules which meet specific size standards are used. The remainder are discarded. An additional mixing operation blends the granules to ensure 100% batch consistency. Special temperature-controlled storage cabinets maintain the moisture level and conditions the steatite mixture, thus retainig the required bulk density factor. Published without a copyright notice in "The making of a cermet trimmer, 1966" in Beckman Instruments' newsletter Helinews, number 36, Spring 1966, pp. 4-5. Part of a two-page spread detailing the process of manufacturing cermet trimmers. |
